Scopoderm patches belong to a group of medications called antiemetics which are used for travel sickness. They contain an active ingredient called Hyoscine. Scopoderm patches help with the feeling of sickness, vomiting and vertigo which is the loss of balance. Travel sickness occurs when your bodies internal balance system gets confused receiving different messages from your eyes and rest of your body which in turn causes the symptoms of travel sickness.

Scopoderm patches work by preventing signals from the balance centre in your ears sending messages to the vomiting centre in the brain hence reducing the likelihood of being sick.

 The patches are to be applied directly to the skin 5 to 6 hours prior to travel. The patch should be applied to a clean, dry and hairless area behind the ear. The patch works for 3 days so if you are travelling for longer than this take it off and apply another. It is water resistant and is unlikely to come off in the water, however, it is suggested that you don't stay in the water too long. If the patch does accidentally come off carefully dispose of it and apply another.

• You are allergic to hyoscine or any another of the ingredients which can be seen in the patient information leaflet.
