Motilium

Motilium 10 is a remedy specifically developed to relieve queasy, heavy bloated stomach symptoms. Motilium 10 can clear these symptoms, often experienced after eating and drinking, to help get your stomach working properly again.
Motilium 10 Tablets contain the active ingredient domperidone, which is a type of medicine called a dopamine antagonist. It is an antisickness medicine, and can also be used to relieve uncomfortable symptoms of stomach bloating, fullness and reflux in adults.
Domperidone works primarily by blocking dopamine receptors found in the upper end of the digestive system. This causes tightening of the muscles at the entry to the stomach, relaxation of the muscles at the exit of the stomach and increased contraction of the muscles in the stomach itself. These actions speed up the passage of food through the stomach into the intestine, which physically helps prevent vomiting and reduces feelings of sickness, bloating and fullness.

How Does Motilium 10 Work?
Motilium 10 helps restore your stomachs' natural digestive rhythm and therefore helps to move food normally through the system. That's why your GP or pharmacist might refer to Motilium 10 as a 'motility' product. You see, your digestive system needs help to keep "on the move" to function properly and that is where Motilium 10 comes in; it helps the stomach to restore the normal flow of food through the system.
Unlike other products available for you to purchase, Motilium 10 is the only remedy that specifically relieves dysmotility (when your stomach's processing powers slow down, leaving you with a queasy, heavy bloated stomach) and the uncomfortable symptoms that can go with it.
What is it used for?
Stopping feelings of sickness (nausea) and being sick (vomiting) in adults and children.
Relieving stomach discomfort, fullness or bloating and regurgitation of stomach contents (reflux or heartburn) in adults.
Directions
Motilium 10 Tablets:
Adults and adolescents (over 16 years old)
Take one tablet up to 3 times a day and one tablet at night.
Children (under 16 years old)
Not recommended.
Do not take these tablets continuously for more than 14 days in a row. If your symptoms are not better after this time, it may be a sign that you have a different medical problem. Please talk to your doctor.
Do not take more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Warnings
Motilium 10 Tablets:
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking these tablets if:
you are allergic to domperidone or any of the other ingredients of Motilium 10
you have a disease of the pituitary gland (prolactinoma)
you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer
you have a blocked or perforated gut
you frequently have severe stomach cramps
you have kidney or liver problems
you are receiving any other medicine or treatment
Taking other medicines at the same time
If you are taking an antifungal medicine containing ketoconazole by mouth, see your doctor before taking Motilium 10.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Motilium or any other medicine.
Do not take Motilium 10 if you are breast-feeding
because small amounts of Motilium can enter the milk.

Ingredients
Motilium 10 contains
12.75 mg domperidone maleate (which is equivalent to 10 mg domperidone) as the active ingredient.
The other ingredients are:
lactose, maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised potato starch, polyvidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, polysorbate 20, hypromellose and propylene glycol.
Side Effects
Motilium 10 Tablets: Allergic reactions (or sensitivity) to domperidone maleate are very rare. The signs are:
a rash
itching
shortness of breath
wheezing and/or a swollen face
If you get any of these symptoms, stop taking Motilium and see your doctor as soon as possible.
