Algesal Local Analgesic Cream is a topical analgesic cream containing 10% of the active ingredient diethylamine salicylate. Diethylamine salicylate has anti-inflammatory and painkilling actions. It is a counter-irritant, and when applied to the skin, causes redness and produces heat. This distracts the brain from the original pain and therefore reduces perception of the pain. This sensation of heat creates a source of distraction from the initial pain felt in the muscles or joints. This treatment has a direct pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. Algesal Local Analgesic Cream Directions: Adults (including the elderly) and children 6 years and over: For cutaneous use. Apply three times daily to the affected area, massaging until cream is frilly absorbed. Children under 6 years: Not recommended.
